'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Galbraith resumes contest with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith grins broadly as he remembers the nail-biting dying seconds of his team's stunning fightback victory against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. The encounter wrapped up with Galbraith temporarily wearing a spectator's eyewear amid the post-goal scrum.

With the clock ticking into the 97th minute, Galbraith struck the post with a speculative shot from outside the box, and the defender immediately hammered in the rebound before charging toward the East Stand to mark the goal, with supporters congregating around the players.

Stunning Reversal

This sealed an extraordinary turnaround given the team had trailed 2-0 during the final 45 minutes. Amid the delirium, there was some minor mishaps. Galbraith explained, "There was a spectator shouting out and we were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a bit of banter putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're humans, too, so to have a laugh with the fans is always good."

Manchester City Challenge

The result booked a fourth-round fixture at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, a club Galbraith ran close at the same stage of the FA Cup with the London side in February. He had a prime vantage point when the underdogs took the lead in remarkable manner, with the attacker's volley from about 45 yards going in via the bar and the opposition keeper. It seems unfair that it was recorded as an own goal.

"You would have wished they would've awarded it to him for taking the effort on from that far out," commented Galbraith, who played in the middle before switching to right defensive wing after they changed shape. That meant competing with Jack Grealish, with whom he traded tops, and the attacker was among the Manchester squad who praised the way his former team played positively.

City's Quality

"Physically they are very good but even the simple things and basic skills, they can just perform consistently," Galbraith says. "It feels like they complete every delivery and they are adept at dictate and take the sting out of a game. You can feel you're holding your own and then abruptly they will just fizz a pass past your midfield without you even seeing. You have to be alert throughout of the game. It requires a tough attitude and attention just to keep pace."

Welsh Transition

The Welsh side were keen on Galbraith in January and beat off competition to sign him in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He became a favorite as a crowd pleaser across multiple campaigns at Leyton Orient and has swiftly replicated that in his new home. At the London club he joined forces once more with Richie Wellens, who earlier gave Galbraith his first extended run in senior football on loan at Doncaster from Manchester United. Then came a loan at fourth-tier Salford City, before he moved on from his boyhood club.

Learning Curve

"I was perhaps a bit naive going into senior level. I think a lot of players would say youth team games is entirely separate. Sometimes it feels like possession is exchanged without real physicality. There's not many physical contests. Once you start playing men's games you have to adapt rapidly."

Country Call-ups

He has shown that development for both domestically and internationally, excelling for Northern Ireland, who remain in contention for the World Cup next summer via the playoffs and for whom he has been selected in the past five games, including both legs games against a football powerhouse. The ex-coach, Galbraith's former international manager, gave him the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "creative maestro" given how he controls possession and his eye for a killer pass.

Starting Out

This marks a remarkable path for the kid from the Queens Park estate in his hometown, just outside Belfast, who grew up watching his parent, his father, also a midfielder, play for his father's team.

Red Devils Debut

Galbraith's single match for Manchester United came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a Europa League trip to the Kazakh capital, where they played on an plastic turf and the arena covering was shut owing to temperatures of -15C. "It was a extended travel and it was cold out there," he comments, smiling. "The days leading up, several youth players and I practiced as a group, so that helped us acclimatise. Just to join the main group and make an appearance at the end was unbelievable."

Leaving United

How difficult was it to depart Manchester United, the club he signed from his boyhood team aged a teenager? "The decision proved relatively straightforward, because I arrived at the moment where I knew I wasn't going to make it at the top level. I'm hugely grateful for the time I spent there but it reached a stage where I felt I required a fresh start, join a smaller club and play first-team games. Now I'm steadily climbing the ladder."

Welsh Adaptation

It is the early part of the afternoon at Swansea's Fairwood training base but Galbraith has somewhere to be at the early evening: a road rules assessment, another progress toward getting on the road. Prior to relocating to his new neighborhood, the 24-year-old was a regular in Swansea's dubbed fun bus, a team vehicle driven by team personnel, the transport team, which transports players to and from training and matches.

"I travel with a teammate, another squad member, the midfielder – a former passenger used to be in it but has got his license. It's nice to socialize with the guys but I'm hoping to be the subsequent individual to stop using the bus and driving. His teammate likes to pull a few pranks; he's frequently playing tricks."

Fan Interactions

While playing for Orient, Galbraith would blend in with followers on London's Central line after beginning his trip at Brentwood. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
