The second-hand marketplace Users Voice Frustration About Size Changes
Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused products showing incorrect sizing.
This online marketplace has updated its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel without notifying all shoppers about the modification.
Online Platforms Backlash
Numerous buyers and vendors are expressing on platforms stating that platform listings now display a different size category compared to what was initially listed because of the remapping.
The company said the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.
The platform has recommended to review their products and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, causing user dissatisfaction.
Size Classification Modifications
Previously, the sizes had both one number and one letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter and a range for example S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the size labels have been reassigned - like an L measurement was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
User Accounts
Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Another user, located in Scotland, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as size 20–22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they may become frustrated," she said.
Manual Updates
Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizing for "all her products".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she stated.
Marketplace Information
The platform boasts over 100 million members, with 18 million British users.
It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: last year, the platform withdrew an update concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
